Starting May 16, 2025, Ishigaki Resort Hotel begins a new journey under a new name: THE UBUFURU ISHIGAKI.

“UBUFURU” is a unique name inspired by the rich language and spirit of Okinawa’s Yaeyama Islands.

“UBU” means “beginning” or “birth,” while “FURU” means “river.”
Together, they evoke the image of a river’s source — a place where life flows, begins, and renews. Inspired by the meeting point of the sea and river at Miyara River, the name reflects our hope for a “new journey to begin” by the water’s edge.
